“Since the beginning of the gas crisis, the government had intense negotiations with all our partners, including Gazprom. The negotiations with Gazprom are still ongoing and in the meantime, we are looking for alternative sources to cover the country’s gas needs. The Republic of Moldova is ready to sign a new contract with Gazprom under realistic terms and focused on the economic dimension,” said Prime Minister Gavrilita.
“The dramatic increase of prices will clearly have an impact on our citizens and businesses. The government stands ready to protect its most vulnerable citizens. In this regard, I would like to thank the European Union’s willingness and reassurance to find solutions to assist the Republic of Moldova in this situation. Our priority was to ensure that Moldova does not remain without gas. We managed to deliver solutions. After intense negotiations at all levels, we are discussing several alternative gas sources. The government is also looking into legal solutions to allocate help for those who will be the most affected by higher prices,” continued the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister reassured that the government will continue with negotiations on all sides to keep the country’s gas supplies flowing until the market situation comes back to normal.
