31 March 2026, Chișinău - Earlier this week, the Republic of Moldova was visited by a delegation comprising representatives of the European affairs committees from the parliaments of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Finland, Poland, and Germany. In Chișinău, the delegations from the seven EU Member States signed a joint declaration reaffirming their support for the Republic of Moldova’s European path.

The document highlights Moldova’s resilience and determination in advancing reforms and strengthening democratic institutions, despite all the challenges posed by external interference and hybrid attacks. At the same time, it commends the progress made in the EU accession process and efforts to align with European legislation.

The signatories of the declaration welcome the launch of technical negotiations on all six clusters of chapters and urge EU Member States to open formal accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova without delay, emphasizing that enlargement must remain a merit-based, credible, and predictable process, essential for strengthening security and stability in the region.

The full declaration can be found HERE.
