15 December, Brussels – Today, the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU held its summary meeting in Brussels. During the meeting, it was announced that the Republic of Moldova is starting technical discussions with the European Commission on three of the six groups of chapters for EU accession negotiations: Fundaments, Internal Market and External Relations.

‘This means that we can start substantive discussions at the technical level, during which we will receive clarification, guidance, and monitoring from the Commission and EU Member States. This will allow us to do our homework and maintain the momentum and pace of reforms’, said Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov.

The three clusters are the core of the accession negotiations and are defining for any EU member state.

‘We have a lot of work to do from now on. We have demonstrated this year that we are ready and can deliver good results. Our goal for next year is to make even more progress in our preparations for accession. We thank the Danish Presidency of the EU Council and the European Commission for their trust and for helping us move forward with our European agenda’, said Cristina Gherasimov.
