Prime Minister Ion Chicu today paid a working visit to the central Criuleni, where he met the local public authorities (APL) of the first and second levels.

The participants in the discussions tackled the most important problems faced by the local residents, such as the ones in the farming sector, the pandemic situation, water supply and connection to sewerage networks, bad quality of roads or procrastination of the works of construction of a water-purifying station in the region.   

Ion Chicu informed those present at the meeting about the actions undertaken by the central authorities so far to combat the pandemic, as well as to maintain a financial balance in all fields of the economic and social life. In the context, the prime minister said that the government would further fulfill their budgetary obligations before the citizens.   

The Prime Minister noted that, despite the challenges, the investments in Moldova’s infrastructure would continue next year. Besides, Ion Chicu stressed that, in 2021, the money allocated for roads’ repair could be managed by the local authorities according to priorities.   

The sides discussed also the need to identify a ground for the construction of the multifunctional industrial platform from Criuleni.

„We have visions on how could we develop the region through the creation of this multifunctional industrial platform (PIM). I am sure that, in this way, we will be able to attract potential investors here. It is necessary that we find, as soon as possible, a ground for the placement of PIM, in order to revive the economy in the Criuleni district,’’ Ion Chicu said.
  

After the meeting, the prime minister discussed the APL’s initiative to create a business incubator in the region in the building of a former vocational school. The district’s leadership suggested that another two buildings be turned into social dwellings.  

Subsequently, Ion Chicu visited the building of the former maternity hospital from the Criuleni district. The district’s authorities informed the Prime Minister that a regional centre for elderly people might be set up on this platform.

The prime minister visited also the water-purifying station from the town, the construction of which started back in 2004. One year later, the needed equipment was bought, costing 18 million lei; yet, the station has not been functional so far. Thus, the Criuleni district’s leadership came up with a request for additional financial means to be envisaged for the next year to finish the project.
