The level of implementation of the Action Plan: Memory. Honour. Respect, as well as the issues of veterans which require government involvement, were discussed today at the meeting of Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, with war veterans.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers thanked the veterans for their active involvement in solving the problems in the field: "We have achieved results and we have done many things – that is because there was some understanding on your part, and our approach was a sincere one. I assure you that the dialogue remains the priority for us."

Following implementation of Action Plan: Memory. Honour. Respect, the veterans receive specialised medical treatment at the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS), and the recovery process is provided by the Republican Experimental Centre for Prosthesis, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Also, it was set the nominal allowance of MDL 500 for the spouses or parents of persons decorated post – mortem with the Order of the Republic and the pension for veterans with disabilities increased, on average MDL 1,500. Similarly, the war veterans were given the right to free privatisation of flats, and 405 veterans received allowances for the purchase, restoration or construction of dwellings, with MDL 18 million allocated on it.

At their turn, the veterans thanked the PM for his personal contribution and involvement of the government team in identifying real solutions to existing issues. At the same time, they called for simplification of procedure for obtaining housing allowances, lifting of restrictions on granting allowances to wives and parents of those who died, establishment of Veterans Day, and restoration of the Military Engineering Museum.

Some solutions have already been solved, so it was decided to extend the term for granting housing allowances and the persons accompanying invalids of war shall be entitled to sanatorium tickets.
