The main directions of the Moldovan-American cooperation and priorities of the strategic dialogue between the two countries were discussed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington today. The officials assessed the situation concerning the regional security in the Eastern Europe and highlighted the importance of the cooperation between Moldova and the USA and counteraction of external interference.  
 

The Premier expressed gratitude for the constant assistance provided by the USA to promote structural reforms and the democratic values in Moldova. He emphasized as priorities the continuation of the implementation of the Association Agreement with EU and holding transparent elections at the expiration of the mandate of this parliament.

The Prime Minister thanked for the contribution of the United States to the process of settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, which helped make progress in the five-plus-two negotiations.

Also, Pavel Filip reconfirmed the Moldovan authorities’ openness for boosting the communication on subjects regarding the reformation of Moldova’s defence system, strengthening the energy security and cooperation in the commercial and economic sector.

For his part, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo praised the maintaining of an active dialogue with Moldova’s officials in the regional security sector.
