Moldova's future goals discussed in Brussels with several European officials

28 January 2026, Brussels – In Brussels, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov met with several European officials.

 

‘We discussed the progress and future objectives on our country's European agenda with Aingeal O'Donoghue, Ireland's permanent representative to the EU, the country that will take over the Presidency of the EU Council in the second half of this year. We also discussed with the Permanent Representatives of Germany, Thomas Hans Ossowski, and France, Philippe Leglise-Costa, the geopolitical developments of the last month and the role of a united Europe in facing new challenges’, said Cristina Gherasimov.

 

Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov discussed developments on the European agenda and the actions to be taken in the country with Therese Blanchet, Secretary-General of the Council of the EU, Ilze Juhansone, Secretary-General of the European Commission, and Ana Gallego, Director-General for Justice and Consumers at the European Commission.

 

‘The support of the European Commission and the expertise of the Council of the EU are valuable in the process of transforming the Republic of Moldova and preparing the country for accession’, added Cristina Gherasimov.
