Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita has had a meeting with a parliamentary delegation of Romania, led by President of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu.  

The subjects discussed were focused on the bilateral cooperation, with emphasis on the carrying out of joint future projects between Moldova and Romania, for the benefit of the citizens from both banks of the Prut river. The officials discussed possible solutions to ease the traffic of goods at the border, including through the setting up of joint teams. The sides also tackled topics on speeding up the carrying out of the infrastructure projects and rapprochement of the business from the two countries, especially through the creation of attractive conditions for Romanian investments.      

The prime minister thanked Romania for the constant and unconditional support provided to Moldova on the last period, especially in order to back the country’s European integration.   

„I am happy that our historical relations witness an unprecedented rapprochement. I thank you for the assistance provided to Moldova in all sectors, but especially for the support of our desideratum to be firmly anchored in the European space. This is the greatest concern of the cabinet and a priority of the current governance. We count on the political support of Romania in the acceptance of the application on Moldova’s accession to EU. Or, we know that the way to Europe passes through Romania,’’ Natalia Gavrilita stressed.  

President of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu reconfirmed the fact that Romania would always be with Moldova. The official voiced confidence that Moldova would get the status of candidate country for EU.     

„We really go through a quite burdened period and Romania does not make a favour for Moldova through the support provided beyond the Prut river. Romania is obliged to help Moldova with everything it can. We know that you have been dependent on Russia for so many years; we know that, once the war in the region started, you have become even more vulnerable. We will have to overcome this complicated moment together. Continue to cover the way begun, to implement the reforms necessary. You have every openness on our behalf, including in order to cope with the major economic challenges. We try to find the best solutions, in order to come up with a real support for Moldova,’’ Marcel Ciolacu added.     

The Romanian delegation led by President of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu is on a visit to Moldova, as a response to an invitation made by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.
