The new cabinet members today took the swearing-in-office oath, at a ceremony held at the State Residence. Attending the event were President Igor Dodon, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii and Prime Minister Ion Chicu.

The Prime Minister said that decision-makers had acted quickly, following a decision by the Democrats to withdraw their ministers from the government, as well as in accordance with all provisions provided for in Moldova’s Constitution.

„We go through a difficult period, not only because the 2020 year is a complicated one, but this is also a period when we work out and promote the budgets, when we must come up to people with proposals for the next year in the fiscal and budgetary policy, with social policies, with reintegration policies and certainly, with economic growth proposals,’’ Ion Chicu said.

The prime minister wished success to the new ministers in the work they will carry out starting from today, stressing the apolitical attitude of the government. ‘’I thank the colleagues for courage, for the fact that they accepted to assume this difficult mission. Both the period is complicated, and the requirements on behalf of the society are high. I am sure that you will manage to cope with it, especially as a prepared team is waiting for you in ministries. The key of success is the spirit of team, in cooperation with the colleagues from ministries. We are an apolitical team, with a comprehensive agenda, which can be implemented only if we manage to consolidate the society, no matter the political preferences,’’ Ion Chicu said.  

Today, Prime Minister Ion Chicu will introduce to the staff the new ministers: Olga Cebotari – Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Economics and Infrastructure Minister Anatol Usatii, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, Defence Minister Victor Gaiciuc and Education, Culture and Research Minister Lilia Pogolsa.
