Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița explained today in a briefing the government's position on the use of the 100 million euro grant that Romania is going to offer during the joint meeting of the Executives due on 11 February.

 

"The projects to which the money will go will be agreed by both parties in subsequent discussions. I can tell you now what our intention is for this money. First of all, we want most of this amount to supplement the amounts allocated to the Regional and Local Development Fund, started by the Government a few months ago. These investments will also generate economic development and new jobs, because in addition to the additional funds for roads, which mayors have received in the new budget, there will be much larger funds that municipalities will be able to access from the program. The European village, for the benefit of the inhabitants ", Gavrilița said.

 

Other projects to be funded from this grant could be restoration work on the National Theater and Organ Hall and other cultural venues, media projects.

 

The intergovernmental agreement on 100 million euros in assistance is due to be signed on Friday. Subsequently, the parties will agree on the concrete projects to be funded. During the joint meeting of the Governments of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, several agreements are to be concluded, including those for the repair of the Giurgiulești-Galați bridge, the construction of a new bridge in Ungheni, the reduction and elimination of roaming charges.
