Prime Minister Ion Chicu convened a working meeting on kidnapping an officer of Floresti Police Inspectorate and other civilians by unrecognized force structures in the Transnistrian region that occurred on 7 October.

The actions represent violation of fundamental human rights and a challenge to state security and rule of law.

All competent state authorities immediately and proactively took measures to elucidate all circumstances of the case.

In this context, the government has mobilized all forces to identify the whereabouts of persons, starting investigations under criminal law and criminal procedure, communication with family members and relatives to provide support, inform actors in the 5 + 2 format, development partners and international human rights organizations.

Today, at the meeting of the OSCE Standing Committee in Vienna, the Moldovan delegation will address the constant violation of human rights, including informing all member states of the organization about actions of degradation of human rights.

The government and law enforcement authorities will not tolerate abuses against Moldovan citizens and will activate all legal, political and institutional instruments to counter the phenomenon of violation of constitutional rights and destabilize the situation in the country in the context of electoral events.

We call on national and local partners to show solidarity with the actions taken by the government to address the human rights situation.
