Moldovan cabinet approves amendment of normative framework related to reform of Supreme Court of Justice
The Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) will have fewer powers and will be turned into a court of cassation, with role of standardizing the judicial practice. In this respect, the cabinet has a proved a draft law on the amendment of normative acts and namely the normative framework related to the reform of the Supreme Court of Justice.
Besides the change of the powers of the Supreme Court of Justice, the document’s goals is to reduce the volume of work for the CSJ judges, as well as revise the way they are paid. Also, decision-makers will change the grounds for the declaring of appeal in the criminal, civil and administrative procedure, as well as the criteria of assessing the admissibility of the requests for appeal. A novelty introduced in the law is also the establishment of the office of legal expert in charge of the unification of the judicial practice.
The draft also envisages the possibility of the video recording of the CSJ sessions, de-bureaucratization of the procedure of consideration of files and excluding the compulsoriness of setting up specialized colleges.
