The cabinet approved the way of calculation, reporting, determining and establishing the salary of the public sector employees today.

For the wage payment reform to be efficiently implemented, decision-makers worked out a string of regulations on the way of determining the period of length of service for establishing the wage payment stages, performance increase, hour salary, as well as the monthly average salary for the public sector employees.

Therefore, the length of service for establishing wage payment stages will be determined depending on the categories of public sector employees: civil servants, teachers, medical staff, diplomatic service, employees with special status in the defence and public order systems.

Decision-makers also saw the way of calculation of the average monthly salary till the enforcement of the law on wage payment, of compensatory payments and of the salary difference, in conditions when, after the implementation of the reform, some employees will receive a monthly salary lower than earlier. These payments will be recalculated proportionally to the time effectively worked.

The government elaborated and promoted the law on the single wage payment system in the public sector. Following the reform’s implementation, no public sector employee will have a salary lower than the subsistence minimum of 2,000 lei. At the same time, the difference between the first wage payment degree and the last one will be of 15 stages and not 33, as it has been so far. The salaries will be increased for the public sector employees of all fields, including education, health and social sector. The cost of the project’s implementation for 2019-2021 is of 3.9 billion lei.
