22 January 2026, Călărași - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov went on a working visit to the district of Călărași. She discussed with the 28 mayors the benefits of joining the European Union and encouraged them to continue applying for European projects and developing their communities.

‘It is important to work together to create better living conditions and make our villages and towns attractive to all residents’, said Cristina Gherasimov.

Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov held a dialogue with students from the ‘Mihai Eminescu’ Theoretical High School in the village of Sipoteni and the ‘Vasile Alecsandri’ Theoretical High School in Călărași about the European path and the opportunities that accession offers the new generation: ‘Today's discussions have confirmed that the country's European future is in good hands’.

With the support of European funds, people in the villages and towns of the Călărași district enjoy modern infrastructure, comfort, and safety: rehabilitated and lit streets, well-equipped kindergartens and schools, and renovated cultural centres.
