Chisinau-Minsk air route launched
Moldova’s citizens, as well as the ones from Belarus will be able to fly quickly and safely on the air route Chisinau-Minsk, launched today. The flight will be operated five times per week and will last one hour and a half. The idea was launched back in last April, when Prime Minister Pavel Filip discussed this possibility with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, on a visit to Chisinau at that time.
„Today we once again prove that the relations between Moldova and Belarus are based on friendship, trust and mutual respect, and at the same time, on concrete projects for citizens,” the PM said at the event on the launch of the air route.
The prime minister stressed that the direct flight would open business opportunities and new destinations for the Moldovans, who will be able to go to Minsk and other countries, including those from Asia, easier and cheaper. At the same time, Moldova might become a tourist destination for citizens of more states, who can come to Chisinau quicker via Minsk.
For his part, Igor Cherginets, the deputy director of the Belavia Company, which will operate the new air route, said that the tickets for the concerned route were already quite demanded: “We have brought 65 passengers to Chisinau and will fly back with 92. This is a good result for the beginning and I hope that the flight will be daily in the long run.” Igor Cherginets also said that the route gained popularity also among transit passengers, who fly to Baltic countries, Finland, Russia, Kazakhstan or Georgia.
The prime minister today flew with the new route to Minsk on a working visit, thus being among the first passengers of the route launched. Before the flight, Pavel Filip made a promise. “The passenger with the number 1,000 due to come from Minsk to Chisinau will be received at the government and will have possibility to visit one of the wineries from Moldova. Please, come to see Moldova, to see the traditions and we will pay you every attention,” the prime minister added.
