The cabinet, at a today’s meeting, approved minimal quality standards for the good work of the day centres for taking care of children with ages from four months to three years. The centres are meant for families which face difficulties, in order to prevent situations of abandonment.

 

Five such day centres have been opened with the help of foreign financers in Chisinau, Balti, Glodeni, Criuleni and Calarasi in the last years and about 500 children benefited from them. These institutions provide services for a definite period of time, including for mothers who need educational trainings or counseling.

 

The decision approved by the government contains 31 minimal quality standards, which regard the procedure of access to service, hygiene, nourishment, education and protection of the child, as well as the centre’s management, employment and promotion of staff, its professional training, etc. Also, decision envisages the principles based on which the services will be provided and namely: non-discrimination, individual approach, observing the child’s identity, dignity and right to private life, etc.      

 

The minimal quality standards, on the one hand, will facilitate the work of the service, and on the other hand, will allow the possibility of its accreditation.
