7 May 2026, Chișinău – Representatives of the EU Council’s Working Group on Enlargement and Countries in the Accession Negotiation Process (COELA) are currently visiting Moldova.

‘We are pleased that diplomats from EU member states, who prepare all EU decisions on the subject of enlargement, including in negotiations with the Republic of Moldova, have come to get to know our country, to discuss with decision-makers, and to learn firsthand that Moldova has institutions that are successfully advancing the reform process and delivering results, has enthusiastic young people and hardworking citizens,’ said Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov.

The officials held several meetings, including with President Maia Sandu, members of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, professionals in the fields of justice and security, and civil society.

‘Progress made in justice reform, the protection of fundamental rights, the combat of organised crime, the strengthening of security, and border management was presented,’ said Cristina Gherasimov.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov, such visits offer European partners the opportunity to directly observe the activity of institutions in the Republic of Moldova, the transformations the country has undergone in recent years, and how determined society is to become part of the big European family.
