Progress and next steps in the negotiation process discussed in Brussels by Cristina Gherasimov with several European officials

16 April 2026, Chișinău – During visit to Brussels this week, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov discussed the reforms currently being implemented and the next steps in the negotiation process with:

 

- Permanent Representatives to the EU of Romania – Iulia Matei, France – Philippe Leglise-Costa, Germany – Thomas Hans Ossowski, Lithuania – Nerijus Aleksiejunas, and Poland – Agnieszka Bartol;

 

- Victor Negrescu, Vice-President of the European Parliament;

 

- Ana Gallego, Director-General for Justice and Consumers, European Commission;

 

- Maryem Van del Heuvel, Director-General for External Relations, General Secretariat of the European Council;

 

- Oliver Onidi, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs;

 

- Audrone Perkauskiene, Deputy Director-General for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the European External Action Service;

 

- Pedro Lourtie, Head of the Cabinet of the President of the European Council.

 

’This year, it is important that we move forward at least as quickly as we did in 2025, focusing on reforms that strengthen our democracy and peace, modernise the state, bring European standards to our communities, and build a truly European Moldova,’ said Cristina Gherasimov.

 

Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov thanked European partners for their openness and for the support provided to the Republic of Moldova on its European path.
