5 February 2026, Chișinău – This week saw the first meetings in the technical negotiations on Cluster 1, an important moment in Moldova's journey towards European Union accession.

'Together with colleagues from the European Commission, we discussed what we need to do to achieve priority reforms under Chapters 23 and 24, which cover the rule of law, justice, fundamental rights, the fight against corruption and state security,' said Cristina Gherasimov.

These chapters form the intermediate stage of the negotiations and determine Moldova's progress in all other areas of the accession process.

'Real progress in the rule of law is key to the entire European path. A year of intense work lies ahead, with clear reforms and measurable results. Moldova has entered this stage prepared and determined to deliver,' said Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov.
