
15 June 2026, Luxembourg – Today will start the second Intergovernmental Conference between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union on the opening of negotiations on Cluster 1 – Fundamentals.
‘This is a long-awaited moment for which great efforts have been made by both Moldovan and European institutions, as well as in every European capital,’ said Cristina Gherasimov.
During the high-level meeting, the European Union will present its common position, including the benchmarks, that is, the clear expectations for a future member state, so that Moldova is fully prepared to function as part of the European family upon its accession.
For its part, the Republic of Moldova will reaffirm its firm commitment to aligning with European rules and standards and will present the Roadmaps and concrete reforms, both those already implemented and those currently underway, in key areas such as the rule of law and the functioning of democratic institutions, justice and the fight against corruption, human rights and home affairs, public procurement, statistics, and financial control.
