THE NEW COORDINATION MECHANISM FOR THE EU ACCESSION PROCESS DISCUSSED AT A MEETING OF THE CHAIRS AND SECRETARIES OF THE WORKING GROUPS ORGANISED BY THE BUREAU FOR EUROPEAN INTEGRATION

On Monday 18 March, the meeting of the Chairs and Secretaries of the Working Groups for the negotiations on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union took place in videoconference format. The inter-institutional coordination meeting was chaired by Rodica Crudu, Secretary of State for European Integration, and Ghenadie Marian, Head of the Bureau for European Integration (BIE).
Among the main topics discussed were the working methods introduced by the new Coordination Mechanism for Moldova's EU accession process, approved by Government Decision on 13 March this year.
In this context, the Secretary of State explained the actions to be undertaken in the coming period by each institution and Working Group, in particular, reporting on the progress of the implementation of the National Action Plan for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU, the elaboration of the contribution of the Republic of Moldova to the EU Enlargement Package for 2024, as well as the preparation of the bilateral screening phase, to be launched after the end of the explanatory screening sessions.
Rodica Crudu underlined the key role of the BIE in providing organisational and functional support to the work of the Working Groups and public authorities in the EU accession process. In this context, the official reiterated the importance of streamlining inter-institutional communication and strengthening the capacities of public officials involved in the implementation of the accession criteria.
