Meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration with the Representative of the European Union for the Transnistrian settlement process

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian had a meeting with Mrs. Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga, EU Representative for the Transnistrian settlement process, acting head of the Division for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at European External Action Service, accompanied by the head of the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova Jānis Mažeiks.
The officials tackled a wide spectrum of topics related to the activity of the negotiation formats for the Transnistrian settlement, the current topics on the dialogue agenda, the priorities of Chisinau in the field of the country's reintegration policies, being mentioned in this sense: human rights issue in the eastern districts of the country, access to farmlands from the Dubasari district, good conditions for the Latin-script schools, withdrawal of obstacles to free movement.
The important role of the European Union was mentioned for boosting the settlement process and implementing the confidence-building initiatives, a role that becomes even more primary in the context of promoting the European integration agenda of the Republic of Moldova, and which is necessary to advance simultaneously with the strategic objective of country’s reintegration.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated the measures taken by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to effectively manage the current crisis situations (energy, economic, regional security), as well as the importance of maintaining the established communication channels to identify viable solutions to the urgent problems that concern the population on both banks of the Nistru river.
The willingness of Chisinau to participate in a new working meeting of political representatives and the interest to continue discussing topical issues on the technical dialogue platform of the relevant experts were mentioned.
