Meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration with the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-office for the Transnistrian settlement process

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian had a meeting with the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-office for the Transnistrian settlement process, Mr. Thomas Mayr-Harting, accompanied by the head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, Mrs. Kelly Keiderling.
The discussions focused on current dynamics of the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol; the interaction within the ‘1+1’ format, the sectoral working groups and the Joint Control Commission; objective factors that make it impossible to relaunch the activities in the ‘5+2’ negotiation format and the Bavarian conferences for promoting the confidence-building measures; the most important issues on Chisinau’s agenda, being mentioned in this sense: free movement, farmers from the Dubasari district, the Latin-script high schools, human rights, etc.
The Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration mentioned that the current regional context requires the establishment of new dialogue platforms on the Transnistrian issue.
The necessity was reiterated for synchronizing the process of simultaneous implementation of the desired European integration and reintegration of the country.
References were made to the challenges and crises in the sphere of security, energy, economy, unstable situation in the perimeter of the Security Zone, being highlighted the efforts undertaken to optimally manage these processes and to avoid undesirable scenarios that endanger the atmosphere of peace and stability.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted his willingness to attend a new working meeting of the political representatives and informed that meetings of sectoral working groups are planned for the near future (i.e.: in the field of environmental protection).
