21.10.2021, Bender – During the meeting in Bender, the delegations continued the discussions to include on the agenda of the Joint Control Commission issues that threat the situation in the Security Zone, one of the most important being assurance of free movement.

The Moldovan delegation warned that Tiraspol constantly ignores the relevant provisions of the Agreement on the Principles for a Peaceful Settlement of the Armed Conflict in the Transnistrian Region of the Republic of Moldova, signed on July 21, 1992, as well as other documents of peacekeeping operations on the Nistru river.

It was mentioned that the illegal "frontier structures” remain an obstacle to the free movement of citizens, and representatives of the Transnistrian structures have been lately entering undisturbed the area under the responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, where they resort to illegal detentions and abductions.

The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova considers that such actions violate fundamental human rights and destabilize the situation in the Security Zone, and the Joint Control Commission must intervene to stop these illegalities.

However, the delegations of the Russian Federation and of the Transnistrian region have a different approach to the issue, insinuating that it does not fall within the competence of the Joint Control Commission. Therefore, the drafting of the agenda for the ordinary meeting was blocked.
