25.05.2021, Chisinau – After a break of about a year, the working group for railway transportation convened in a new meeting (the previous meeting took place on 19 June 2020).
The discussions included the subject of importing petroleum products through the central segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border. Specifically, the experts from Chisinau examined the possibility to extend by the end of this year the deadline for implementing the Government Decision no.1232 of 9 November 2016 on the introduction of these product categories through the "Novosaviţcaia-Cuciurgan" crossing point. With regard to Tiraspol's proposal to reopen such imports through the "Slobodca-Colbasna" crossing point as well, it was stated that currently, due to lack of the necessary infrastructure, this can not be done.
The Moldovan side also mentioned that consultations are carried out with the relevant decision-makers in order to analyze the possibility of extending for the next 6 months the term of action of the Protocol Decision of 30 March 2012 on the principles of full resumption of freight trains through the Transnistrian region. There were 11 additional protocols signed on this matter during 2012-2020.
The resumption of the passenger route "Chisinau- Moscow" through the Transnistrian region was again brought into discussions by the experts from Chisinau. They also specified the obligation to avoid unjustified detentions and unauthorized checks and to present guarantees on ensuring the integrity of locomotives and wagons.
The need to standardize and streamline payments for freight transport on various railway segments and to exclude their duplication, the abandonment of discriminatory approaches, and the opportunity to modernize some railway sectors was stressed and confirmed by the experts from both banks of Nistru.
