There were several topical issues related to the situation in the Security Zone on the agenda of the Joint Control Commission meeting on 15 April 2021.
The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova spoke again about the abduction of the Moldovan citizens in Camenca, in autumn 2020, by Tiraspol armed structures, and demanded their unconditional release. The Delegation as well insisted on restoring free movement in the Security Zone by eliminating the checkpoints illegally installed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In organizational terms, the Commission has replaced three military observers from the Russian Federation, whose service terms have ended. Likewise, representatives from the Republic of Moldova and the Transnistrian region were confirmed as experts in the Joint Control Commission.
Given the false statements of the Transnistrian side regarding the detention of a resident from Parcani village by the Bender Police Inspectorate employees, the Delegation of the Republic of Moldova stated that the citizen was detained on 22 March on the Bender-Chisinau road (near Calfa village from Anenii Noi district), being suspected of committing a robbery in the Chircaiesti village from Causeni district. The detention and the criminal investigation were carried out by the employees of the Causeni Police Inspectorate, while the citizen concerned was being ensured all the rights, and his relatives were able to visit him. The court will rule on his guilt.
Therefore, the Delegation of the Republic of Moldova called on the Transnistrian side not to use the tribune of the Joint Control Commission for insinuations, but to focus on streamlining the mechanisms of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in accordance with the constituent acts of the mission on the Nistru river.
