Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian had a meeting with the State Counselor for Foreign Policy, Security and Strategic Affairs of the Prime Minister of Romania, Mr. Iulian Chifu.
The officials exchanged views on the regional security situation in the context of the war in Ukraine, including the latest developments in the negotiation process for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. The efforts undertaken by the constitutional authorities of the Republic of Moldova to ensure stability and security in our country, with the maintenance of dialogue within the limits agreed in the negotiations, were especially evoked.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian emphasized that the objectives of the reintegration policies of the country remain focused on the peaceful and comprehensive resolution of the conflict, offering all the necessary assistance to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova on the left bank of the Nistru River and the municipality of Bender, while preserving the perspective of European integration.
In this context, the subject of the latest amendments to the criminal legislation aimed at separatism was also addressed, the Moldovan official stressing that they will not affect the negotiation process and are not directed against the citizens of the region.
