Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian had a meeting today with Tutti Tuppurainen, Minister for European Affairs and Property Coordination of Finland and Daniela Gîtman, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.
The officials discussed current issues related to the Transnistrian settlement process, including in the context of the war in Ukraine, the dynamics of the negotiation process, the role of the partners of the Republic of Moldova, as well as other topics of common interest.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian mentioned the interest of the constitutional authorities in increasing the role of the European Union (EU) in the negotiation format given the current context in which the European Council granted the Republic of Moldova the status of a candidate country in the process of joining the European Union in 2022.
The official also drew attention to the positive role of the EU in the settlement process and bringing closer of the two banks of the Nistru River, promotion of confidence building measures and deepening of relations with the EU.
The developments observed in the Transnistrian file were highlighted, as well as the negative effects of the war in Ukraine on our country and the settlement process.
Sincere gratitude was adressed to the officials for the active cooperation and support offered to the Republic of Moldova.
