A new meeting of the Joint Control Commission was held in Bender on December 15th, with participation of the delegations from the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation and the Transnistrian region, as well as representatives of Ukraine and the OSCE Mission to Moldova.

The Joint Military Command reported to the Commission on the situation in the Security Zone for the period December 7-13, 2022.

During the discussion of organisational matters, the Transnistrian component abstained from supporting the candidacy of a National Army officer proposed as a military observer on behalf of the Republic of Moldova.

The Moldovan delegation has categorically disapproved such a destructive approach of blocking important processes within the Joint Control Commission and stressed that military observers have an essential task in the mechanism of monitoring and documenting the situation in the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.

During the meeting, the issue of illegal posts belonging to Tiraspol's subordinate force structures was raised again, and the Moldovan delegation insisted on their unconditional removal from the Security Zone, stressing that the unilateral actions of Transnistrian representatives contravene the provisions of the basic acts of the peacekeeping mission on the Nistru river.

The next meeting of the Unified Control Commission has been agreed for December 22, 2022.
