Discussions about the posts of the Transnistrian force structures, abusively installed in the Security Zone under the pretext of ‘terrorist threat’ continued at the weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission on October, 20 in Bender.

The Moldovan delegation strongly and argumentatively promotes the need to implement the existing provisions of the acts of the peacekeeping mission with the obligation for Tiraspol to withdraw them unconditionally.

In this regard, the representatives of Chisinau reiterated their proposals for a future decision of the Joint Control Commission that could contribute to the withdrawal of the concrete posts and blocks. These illegal posts hinder traffic on the routes, represent a real threat to the life and health of citizens, as demonstrated with regret by the tragic road accident in Rabnita on October 8, 2022.

Tiraspol's representatives in the JCC continue to reject the proposals of the Chisinau delegation, refusing even to provide exact information on the number of posts, weapons and personnel involved.

The members of the Joint Control Commission did not reach a consensus, the meeting was interrupted without a decision being taken on the subject under discussion.

Further consultations will take place in Bender in a week's time.
