Bender, December 30. – During a new working meeting, the members of the Joint Control Commission have resumed discussions on the agenda for the ordinary meeting.

Inasmuch as the proposed project of agenda did once again not include the most stringent problems marking the situation in the Security Zone, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova requested to include for examination and decision the subjects regarding the actions of the so-called ”border guards” and the creation of an efficient monitoring mechanism in the Security Zone. These subjects have previously appeared on the Commission’s agenda, being postponed by Tiraspol under the pretext of holding further consultations.

The delegation of the Republic of Moldova has brought concrete examples demonstrating that the “border guard” forces of Tiraspol destabilize the regime of the Security Zone, hamper free circulation, intimidate and abusively detain citizens, and on May 11 they provoked the death of an inhabitant of the village Răscăieți, who drowned in the river Nistru trying to escape the pursuit of the so-called ”border guards”.

While the delegation of Chisinau was bringing arguments to convince the sides to accept these important subjects into discussion, the leader of the delegation of Transnistrian region has suddenly interrupted the debates and unilaterally closed the meeting of the Commission.

Thus, the exponents from Tiraspol have openly blocked the procedure of approval of the agenda and of conducting the ordinary meeting of the Joint Control Commission.

On a different note, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova announces that today, December 30, 2021, at the checkpoint no. 9/right of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces near Vadul-lui-Vodă a new stage of the refurbishment works was finalized. Three modern cabins were installed for the military personnel conducting missions on a daily 24/24 hours basis in diverse climate and weather conditions.

We remind that in the current October, during the implementation of an action plan regarding the conditions of functioning of the checkpoints belonging to peacemaking forces, the relocation of yet another peacemakers’ ckeckpoint was conducted, which allowed unblocking the traffic artery Coșnița-Bălăbănești and removing obstacles for citizens and vehicles moving on this road sector.
