Bender, 18 November 2021 – Members of the Joint Control Commission held an ordinary meeting on November 18 this year, after a break of a couple of weeks.

During the working meeting, the parties appointed Evgheniy Vereshchaga as co-chair of the JCC on behalf of the Russian Federation. He also held this position between 2014-2017.

The permanent expert team of the delegation of the Republic of Moldova was also enhanced by including Yurii Podarilov, Head of the General Police Inspectorate.

After resolving the organizational issues, the delegations heard the weekly reports of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone. A total of 7 reports referring to the previous periods were endorsed.

The delegation of the Republic of Moldova sent to the Commission an information note by which it rejected the false rhetoric previously covered in the media by the exponents of Tiraspol with reference to the mobile teams of the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova.

Following a verification of the real situation, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova has firmly stated that the mobile teams of the Customs Service strictly respect the regime of the Security Zone and did not retain any individuals or consignments in the area under the responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, including in Copanca and Cremenciug villages.

At the same time, Chisinau delegation tackled the issue of abusive presence of the "border guard" post on the Cremenciug-Slobozia direction. The issue was pointed out several times in the monitoring reports of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.

In this context, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova requested the support of the representatives from the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the OSCE Mission to the Commission to determine Tiraspol to eliminate this illegal post in order to restore free movement on this segment of the Security Zone.

During the meeting, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova also presented another example of a crass manipulation of public opinion by Tiraspol, this time related to the authorized flights over the Security Zone. Thus, evidence was submitted that the Joint Military Command was informed, as prescribed, a few days before, about some training flights performed in Vadul lui Voda and Molovata localities, by a group of amateur pilots with small aircrafts, that have nothing to do with the military forces. Likewise, the Joint Military Command was notified as prescribed about the transit over the territory of the Republic of Moldova of a helicopter, being authorized by the relevant international organizations and MoldATSA.

The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova considers that the cases of data distorting and misrepresentation of the situation, often practiced by Tiraspol exponents, are detrimental to the objective of confidence-building and cause strained relations within the Joint Control Commission.
