Political representatives jointly with auto transport experts tackled the issue of vehicles from the Transnistrian region

16.09.2021, Chisinau – The political representatives in the negotiation process for Transnistrian settlement, experts from the Working Groups on the development of road transport and infrastructure, mediators and observers from the "5 + 2" negotiation format held a joint meeting at the headquarters of the OSCE Mission in Chisinau.
The subject of vehicles from the administrative-territorial units on the left bank of the Nistru river and from Bender was discussed during the dialogue, in the context of ensuring their participation in international road traffic.
Chisinau stressed the need for a quick humanitarian solution for people and transport units from the left bank that cross the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. In this regard, the Moldovan side stated the need for Tiraspol to present lists with appropriate details on the situation of the targeted transport units. The provided information is to be thoroughly reviewed by the relevant Moldovan authorities, including through Moldovan-Ukrainian bilateral cooperation channels, with appropriate evaluations in order to identify solutions.
Other issues touched upon were: operation of Vehicles Registration offices in Tiraspol and Ribnita, current problems related to their activity, dynamics in the process of documentation with plates and neutral model registration licenses of vehicles, that fall under the mechanisms agreed upon in the negotiations (6060 vehicles are currently documented), implemented actions and those to be taken by specialists in order to generate technical solutions, streamline processes, increase business efficiency and provide more possibilities for applicants to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the existing mechanisms.
It was agreed that the interaction between the main negotiators and the sectoral experts in the field of car transport should be intensified and focused on solving the difficulties for the benefit of the inhabitants on both banks of the Nistru river.
Consultations will continue in the near future, the next meeting being scheduled for Monday, September 20.
