The Acting Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Olga Cebotari, in dialogue with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom and representatives of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives

13.07.2021, Chisinau – The Acting Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Olga Cebotari, had an online meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Moldova, Steven Fisher. The meeting was attended as well by diplomatic mission officials and representatives of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives (IPIS).
The agenda included projects aimed at promoting the strengthening of confidence-building measures and the assistance available in this regard from the British authorities.
On this occasion, the Ambassador and IPIS experts proposed to attention a project / analytical study, recently carried out in joint collaboration and with the financial support of the United Kingdom Government with the title „Transdniestrian conflict settlement: increasing the capacity of official working groups as negotiation mechanism and confidence -building measure”, which reflects the achieved developments in the negotiation process regarding the Transnistrian settlement, the activity and dynamics pursued at the level of sectoral working groups, the findings and recommendations formulated by the authors in order to streamline the negotiations and identify pragmatic solutions to some current issues.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that together with the representatives of the Bureau of Reintegration, they will review the content and recommendations provided in the presented study and will consider the possibility to implement the useful and efficient suggestions for strengthening the position of the Moldovan delegation within the negotiation process.
At the same time, Olga Cebotari reiterated Chisinau's continuous efforts undertaken to achieve a peaceful and lasting settlement of the Transnistrian issue, but also the need to maintain a permanent and constructive dialogue in all agreed negotiating formats in order to solve daily difficulties in the interests of citizens on both banks of the Nistru river.
As well, the Acting Deputy Prime Minister appreciated positively the constant support of the United Kingdom Government shown for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova from all over the country and for the development of new initiatives for building confidence, in the context of the Transnistrian settlement.
