The draft agenda for the regular meeting of the Joint Control Commission on the 1st of July included a number of topics of great interest regarding the situation in the Security Zone and the functionality of the peacekeeping mechanisms.
One of the central topics proposed for discussion by Chisinau refers to removal of the representatives of the so-called „frontier structure” from the responsibility perimeter of the Joint Peacekeeping Force.
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova has reiterated in a statement to the members of the Joint Control Commission its call to re-include in the agenda the range of problems generated by the illegal presence of Transnistrian „representatives of the so-called frontier structure”, including the one related to the tragic incident of May, 11 that ended with the drowning of a villager from Răscăieți and to the unilateral supplementation of number of soldiers at Varnița-Bender post between June 23-24, 2021.
Unfortunately, the Transnistrian side continued its distorted approach towards the respective issue and rejected the approval of the agenda for the second time, which is why the regular meeting could not start.
The only decision taken during today's meeting of the Joint Control Commission was the replacement of two military observers delegated by the Russian Federation to the Joint Peacekeeping Force.
The Unified Control Commission will continue discussions on the current issues next week.
