Acting Deputy Prime Minister Olga Cebotari held technical talks with the representatives of Berlin Economics GmbH

12.05.2021, Chisinau – The acting Deputy Prime Minister Olga Cebotari, jointly with the Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova Claus Neukirch and the EU High Level Adviser on Confidence Building Measures Kalman Mizsei, attended a videoconference with the representatives of Berlin Economics GmbH.
The discussion focused on the banking issues from the perspective of business relations established by the licensed banks from the Republic of Moldova with the customers residing in the Transnistrian region. There were views exchanged on the existing problems and potential ways to solve them.
The acting Deputy Prime Minister Olga Cebotari welcomed the work performed by the Berlin Economics experts in the Republic of Moldova, the implemented projects, the produced studies and thematic reports. Their joint intention with the OSCE Mission to Moldova to continue providing technical expertise and advice in the financial-banking field on a good understanding and observance of the compliance requirements for the international payment transactions by the economic agents from both banks of Nistru were also appreciated.
The national and international legal framework in the reference field and the need to ensure compliance with the requirements established by the legislation in force and the international commitments to which the Republic of Moldova is a party were reviewed.
The acting Deputy Prime Minister thanked the experts for their involvement and screening of the existing problems, reiterating the need to maintain an active cooperation in order to ensure full compliance with the requirements established by the national and international regulatory framework.
