During the meeting of the Joint Control Commission on 22 April 2021, the new Senior Military Chief of the Peacekeeping Forces from the Republic of Moldova, Colonel Cemirtan Vadim, was introduced. The OSCE Mission replaced their representative to the Joint Control Commission, the Tiraspol Delegation supplemented their team with an expert, and the Russian Federation delegated a new military observer.
Given the staff reshuffles in the Joint Military Command (to remind that a new Superior of the military contingent has recently been appointed by the Russian Federation and a new Chief of Staff of the Joint Military Command), the Commission emphasized the need to focus on identifying solutions to the current issues in the Security Zone and to act according to the constituent acts of the Mission on the Nistru river.
The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova requested the leadership of the Joint Military Command to implement the Commission's Decision of 24 September 2020 on the operation of this structure during the pandemic, when Tiraspol representatives blocked the military observers from statutory documenting the illegally installed checkpoints and fences. This deadlock led to non-signing and non-approval of the military's weekly reports on the situation in the Security Zone. The Joint Military Command shall clarify every case of not implementing the Commission’s Decisions starting with 12 March 2020 and report on the measures taken in this regard.
