05.02.2021, Chisinau – We hereby inform that as of 4 February, doctors domiciled in the Transnistrian region and working on the right bank of Nistru, have the possibility to commute freely to work and home, following the removal of restrictions imposed by Tiraspol during the pandemic.
This achievement is due to the fact that the Moldovan side permanently tackled this issue in all the existing dialogue platforms between Chisinau and Tiraspol, including during the meeting of the working group for healthcare on 22 January, this year.
We would like to remind that between 15 April, 2020 and 15 February, 2021, the accommodation expenses on the right bank of the medical personnel living in the Transnistrian region were temporary compensated with the support of external partners. The doctors and medical personnel's accommodation was based on individual consent and this mechanism was periodically extended at the request of the Bureau for Reintegration.
At the beginning of this year, out of 95 medical personnel, 29 benefited from the above-mentioned mechanism. Currently, their unhindered movement has been resolved positively and this is confirmed in the correspondence of the political representatives in the Transnistrian regulatory negotiation process.
The free movement issue is still part of all dialogue formats’ agendas. The efforts are focused on its unconditional resumption between both banks of the Nistru river, for all categories of citizens, while respecting the health and epidemiological rules in force.
Given this opportunity, we express sincere gratitude to the international partners who promptly provided the necessary assistance and contributed to supporting the activity of the medical centers/hospitals in the Republic of Moldova in fighting against Covid-19 and in providing urgent qualified services for the affected patients.
