On 3 December 2020, members of the Joint Control Commission gathered in Bender to examine the current issues occurring in the Security Zone, accordant to its mandate.
We would like to remind that for 9 weeks now the work of the Joint Control Commission has been blocked by the Transnistrian side's refusal to accept on the official agenda of discussions the topics related to the presence of illegal checkpoints and abduction of citizens by the so-called "mgb" from the region.
Meanwhile, the Transnistrian structures continue to defy the basic acts of the peacekeeping operation that prohibit the impediment of free movement and inclusion of elements that are not part of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces contingent, but also reinforcing the infrastructure of the checkpoints that they try to define as "sanitary".
Moreover, on 30 November, Tiraspol installed an illegal mobile checkpoint at the entrance to Dubasari right next to the Post no. 8 (left) of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces. The regulatory request of the senior military Head from the Republic of Moldova to the Joint Military Command to send a group of military observers to document the violation on the spot was rejected. Thus, the violation was not mentioned in the weekly report on the situation in the Security Zone. The report was not signed by the Moldovan side and the representative of Ukraine, while the emergence of the new illegal checkpoint was brought to the attention of the Joint Control Commission.
The fierce debates that followed did not contribute to the approval of the agenda, which is why the meeting was postponed again.
