Working visit of the Deputy Prime Minister for reintegrtion of the Republic of Moldova to Georgia

On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, the Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration Oleg Serebrian, on the sidelines of his working visit to Tbilisi, had meetings with Mr. Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia; Mr. Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia; Mr. Giorgi Volsky, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia; Mr. Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.

 

During the discussions, the Vice-Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian addressed topical issues on the Moldovan-Georgian bilateral cooperation agenda, the program of reforms initiated by the Republic of Moldova in the European integration process, but also the efforts made in the proper management of the challenges faced by the two partner states, particularly arising from the impact of unresolved territorial conflicts on these processes, as well as other aspects of common interest.

 

One topic that received special attention was the negative effects of Russia's unprovoked aggression against Ukraine on the economy and security of the Black Sea region.

 

The economic exchanges between the two states and the need to increase their figures of reference also constituted a distinct subject of the work agenda. The interlocutors had a broad exchange of views on the next measures of interaction, including future mutual visits to Chisinau and Tbilisi.

 

Full openness was expressed for the intensification of bilateral dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Georgia for advancing on subjects of common interest, taking over good practices and experiences, as well as for identifying ways of common support.

 

It was mentioned that the Republic of Moldova and Georgia will support each other in their efforts to reintegrate and integrate into the European family.

 

We remind that the working visit of Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian to Georgia takes place at the invitation of Mrs. Tea Akhvlediani, State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality. The delegation from Chisinau also includes the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ruslan Bolbocean and the Deputy Head of the Reintegration Policies Bureau Eugen Cara.
