On 28 April, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari performed a working visit to Cosnita. Together with the President of the Dubasari district, she chaired an extended working meeting which was attended by the representatives of the local public administration, the management of the Public Property Agency, the Naval Agency, the General Police Inspectorate, the economic agents from Cocieri, Corjova and Molovata Nouă villages, and the administrator of the S.E. “Bacul Molovata”.

The discussion focused on the traffic rules to be followed by the ferry when crossing Nistru between Molovata, Moldova Nouă and Cocieri, based on its current technical capacity and the requirements prescribed by the Commission of Inspectors of the Naval Agency. According to these requirements only vehicles with a load on the axle weighing up to 6 (six) tons are allowed to be transported.

The meeting was called by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration following requests of the mayors and businesses from the regionand given the need to clarify the situation and outline the necessary measures for the near future.

All the participants expressed their points of view and the problems encountered when moving by the floating bridge, being reiterated the indispensability to observe the technical prescriptions in order to avoid risk situations for transported passengers/goods/vehicles, as well as equipment accidents that will subsequently make it non-operational.

It was found that some problems arise due to insufficient information of the population regarding the technical capacity of the ferry and due to overcrowding of the ferry with heavy trucks that can be directed to other routes.

It was agreed that in the next period the crossing with the ferry will be ensured in non-discriminatory conditions for all the residents and businesses from the region. The villages on the left bank of the Dubasari district will be supplied with all the necessary products and goods. The competent authorities will repair and fortify the equipment and will look for possibilities to put new transport units into circulation.

In her turn, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration ensured that through the existing negotiation channels with Tiraspol, efforts to unblock the free movement of the residents from both banks of Nistru, given the restrictions maintained on the left bank during the pandemic, will continue. The external partners will be requested to support the initiatives meant to improve the activity of the SE “Bacul Molovata”. The call for more relevant project proposals to be submitted within the Country Reintegration Program was reiterated.

In the near future, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration will pay a working visit to the Cocieri village from Dubasari district.
