The members of the Joint Control Commission met in Bender on March 10, 2022, resuming the discussions started last week and addressing the subject regarding the impact of the situation in the region on the functioning of the mechanisms of peacebuilding on the Nistru River.
The sides did not reach a consensus on the formation of the agenda, for which reason the weekly meeting was again postponed.
Simultaneously, in order to identify solutions which would allow the continuation of the Joint Control Comission’s activity, consultations were held between the three co-chairs of the Commission and the representatives of Ukraine and of the OSCE Mission.
During the talks, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova took measures to avoid the politicization of the activity of the Joint Control Commission and not to admit the involvement of the military component of the peacekeeping mission in political disputes.
At the proposal of the delegation of the Russian Federation, the sides agreed to hold further consultations. The Commission will meet in seven days.
