Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Reznikov visited Moldova

10.09.2021, Chisinau – Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, Co-chair of the Moldovan-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission, Oleksii Reznikov, visited the Republic of Moldova.
The Ukrainian official was welcomed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Natalia Gavrilita. The basic topics on the bilateral agenda were reviewed during the meeting, highly appreciating the increasing level of cooperation in various areas of common interests and mutual openness to deepen it. The need to achieve visible progress on a number of current issues was noted, such as advancing the joint control at the Moldovan – Ukrainian state border, relaunching the work of the existing bi-lateral commissions and other. Prime Minister, Natalia Gavrilita highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation for protecting the Nistru river, as one of our country’s priorities.
The meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Vlad Kulminski with his Ukrainian counterpart focused on the experience of the two states in the field of reintegration policies and achieving the goal of final and sustainable settlement.
Oleksii Reznikov met a group of Members of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and discussed issues related to the current activity of the legislative process and the priority objectives expected for the short and medium term. At the same time, the advanced level of collaboration between the counterpart institutions of both countries was mentioned, committing full openness for progressing with the initiated processes.
In the afternoon, the Co-chairs of the Moldovan-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, Vlad Kulminski and Oleksii Reznikov, met the Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Spinu, Minister of Economy, Sergiu Gaibu, Minister of Environment, Iuliana Cantaragiu and other representatives of the relevant national institutions. During the discussion, opinions were exchanged with regard to some joint actions for the upcoming periods referring to the current topics on the agenda of bilateral relations, namely: development of infrastructure projects (building the Cosauti – Yampil bridge, re-establishing the Chisinau – Kyiv direct railway traffic, rehabilitation of the Berezino-Basarabeasca railway segment), mutual liberalization of car and air traffic, development of the concept of joint border control at the Moldovan–Ukrainian state border, completion of the border demarcation process, regulation of property relations, electricity supplies, trade issues and increase of Moldovan exports to the Ukrainian market.
Great attention was paid to the protection of the Nistru river and ecological issues related to the activity of the Nistru Hydro Power Complex. The parties agreed to organize a joint meeting on these aspects in the near future.
The visit of the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister to Chisinau was a continuation of the good cooperation actively developed recently between the leadership and high-level public dignitaries from the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine and which will continue to deepen in the future.
