The subject of the Transnistrian settlement discussed with the Ambassador of Georgia

Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian had a meeting today with Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Moldova, Levan Diasamidze.

 

The officials tackled the topic of regional security, taking into account the peculiarities of unsettled territorial conflicts on the territories of both countries, the security risks that the war in Ukraine entails, as well as the humanitarian efforts made to help refugees from the neighboring state.

 

Also, the importance of deepening the cooperation within the existing partnerships between the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine was emphasized, including for advancing on the path of the European integration and strengthen their respective statehood.

 

Aspects related to the Transnistrian issue were discussed, being mentioned some priority action points on this file, and namely: provision of quality public services to residents on both banks of the Nistru river, ensuring respect for human rights (property, education in the mother tongue, free speech etc.), removing unjust obstacles to free movement, access to agricultural lands in the Dubasari district, integrated commercial-economic space, etc.

 

The interlocutors have taken the same approach regarding the fact that territorial conflicts need to be settled exclusively by peaceful and political means, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and Georgia.
