Bender, December 2021 – The abusive detention of the so-called Transnistrian “frontier” post of Iurie Cotofan, inhabitant of Corjova village in Dubasari rayon, was the top issue addressed by the representatives from Chisinau during the meeting of the Joint Control Commission in Bender.

The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova condemned this incident, caused in the Security Zone by the proponents of some force structures subordinated to Tiraspol, illegally being present in the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Force.

This serious violation of free movement and individual freedom in the Security Zone denotes the contempt of all fundamental regulation for the peacekeeping operation over the Nistru river and the international human rights treaties by Tiraspol exponents.

A similar case is reflected in the Security Zone Monitoring Report for October 1 - November 30, 2021. The restriction of citizen Dorel Rosca’s free movement on October 5 was presented during the JCC meeting by the representatives of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.

The observers of the OSCE Mission also documented other violations of the Security Zone regime, including illegal placement of "frontier" mobile posts on October 14 and November 29 in the proximity of Cremenciug and Copanca localities. The OSCE Mission officials also confirm the presence of a line of concrete blocks abusively placed in March 2020 by Transnistrian structures between Bender and Varnita, which they say "creates impediments to the movement of citizens."

The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova to the Joint Control Commission calls on Tiraspol to remove all barriers to free movement, as provided for in the Agreement of July 21, 1992 and other documents establishing the Security Zone regime.
