The Moldovan Organ hall will receive 1 million euros, in order to be restored. Moldovan and Romanian Prime Ministers Iurie Leanca and Victor Ponta, respectively, informed about this during a today visit to the institution. The 1-million-worth donation is provided by the Romanian government and will allow repairing the roof, water evacuation system, dome and facade, including the stairs.
„It is a very nice building, a true jewel, but we must restore it. I hope to find the necessary money, in order to repair the inside building too. All these restoration and rehabilitation works will place the Organ Hall in the top of institutions which take care of the spiritual culture of citizens,” Leanca said.
For his part, Victor Ponta was impressed by the building of the Organ Hall and stressed that he would provide support for restoring the inside building: „I congratulate the ladies who work here for the fact that they continued to hope and found a solution. When I meet people who still have the heart to make art, I tell them: „Do not give up!”.
Previously, 2 million lei was earmarked from the state budget in 2014, in order to restore the inside building. It was agreed to supplement the amount with another 500,000 lei.
The Organ Hall’s building was opened in 1901. The State Bank has had its headquarters in this building till 1974. The organ sang in this building, which is an architecture monument protected by the state, for the first time during a concert on 15 September 1978.
