The officials stressed the constructive level of ties between Moldova and Romania and that there was willingness and determination on behalf of the two governments to advance in implementing joint projects for the benefit of the citizens of both states.

Chiril Gaburici thanked Victor Ponta for the Romanian government’s support provided to Moldova. „During the today meeting, we reviewed the main projects under way, as well as the ones due to be launched in Moldova with the support of the Romanian government. These projects area meant to back reforms, which we set as priorities of the government I lead. It is about national unity, supremacy of law and sustainable economy. The citizens and  their interest are their focus,” Gaburici said.

Chiril Gaburici also referred to the economic ties between Moldova and Romania, which are on the rise. Gaburici said that, in 2014, Romania became the main foreign trade partner of Moldova. The export of agricultural products to Romania recorded a significant growth. „The signing of the Memorandum of understanding on implementation of projects necessary to interconnect the gas and power networks between Moldova and Romania was the priority today. We describe this project as one of strategical importance for Moldova,” Gaburici said.

Chiril Gaburici was confident that the Moldovan-Romanian ties would further develop dynamically and stressed that Moldova counted on Romania’s support to implement its reforms and European integration agenda.

For his part, Victor Ponta said that „Romania continues to be the most firm supporter and an unconditional supporter of Moldova’s European path. This special partnership means our duty work together, so that people on the two banks of Prut have a democratic society, a prosperous society – an extremely important thing. Together, we should manage to ensure this path that people, whom we represent, want”.

Victor Ponta said that, in this respect, it was necessary to carry out concrete projects, which were to mirror the daily life of each citizen. Ponta wished Gaburici every success. „I am confident that he will manage to make good things for Moldovans and will have full support of Romania. This is our obligation and it is not a thing that we do only mentally, but with the heart as well,” Ponta added.
