THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA IS STEADILY ADVANCING TOWARDS THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF ACCESSION NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE EUROPEAN UNION
7th June 2024, Chisinau – Today, in the European Commission's report to the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States to the EU – the Council's main preparatory body – the Republic of Moldova was evaluated as having met the final three recommendations of the European Commission.
In this context, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, expressed her gratitude to the EU Member States for their support of the Republic of Moldova's European trajectory.
"We extend our heartfelt thanks to the countries that sent a joint letter yesterday to the Belgian Council Presidency, advocating for the organisation of the first Intergovernmental Conference by the end of June – Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Sweden".
The next step involves the adoption of the negotiating framework by the EU Member States and the convening of the first Republic of Moldova-European Union Intergovernmental Conference.
