Between 13-14 November the bilateral screening on Chapter 18 ’Statistics’ took place in Luxembourg. The delegation from the Chisinau, including officials from several public institutions, together with the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, presented to the European Commission experts the state of things in our country in the field of statistics and future plans to develop a reliable national statistical system. This session concluded the bilateral screening for Cluster 1 ‘Fundamental Values’.

Cristina Gherasimov congratulated the colleagues from the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova for all the hard work done during the last months to be able to present ourselves, as a country and as a team, at the screening stage: ‘We received many appreciations and we were encouraged to keep on doing our work as well’.

During the same days, the Deputy Prime Minister also had a series of meetings with officials from Luxembourg and European institutions.

‘I was pleased to speak with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Duchy of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel. I also spoke with the President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, Koen Lenaerts, and with Mariana Kotzeva, Director-General of the EUROSTAT.  We continue to welcome the full openness of our partners to help us with the expertise we need to move forward on our European path, for which I thanked all three interlocutors,’ said Cristina Gherasimov.
