4 th July 2024, Chisinau – On 2nd July, the State Secretary for European Integration, Rodica Crudu, met with Johannes Eigner, Head of the EU Enlargement and External Trade Relations with Eastern and South-Eastern Europe Department of the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, and Her Excellency, the Austrian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Stella Avallone.

During their discussions, the officials addressed the four levels of coordination essential for Moldova's accession to the European Union, the pivotal role of Parliament in prioritising the European agenda, and the critical importance of developing a robust communication strategy.

The proposed strategy aims to cultivate a European institutional culture and present the technical details of the accession process in an accessible format, particularly for the new generation of civil servants.

It is noteworthy that this strategy is already being developed, with the Bureau for European Integration (BEI) collaborating with GIZ under the auspices of the Centre for Strategic Communication and Countering Misinformation (STRATCOM).

At the conclusion of the meeting, State Secretary Rodica Crudu expressed her deep appreciation for Austria's support, stating, “We have much to learn from Austria, which promotes exemplary practices and economic development”.

Moreover, the Republic of Moldova is engaged in bilateral discussions with Austrian officials to enhance economic and sectoral cooperation and strengthen collaboration in regional frameworks, particularly as Austria currently holds the presidency of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR).
